(MT Newswires) -- Chinese shares rose on Tuesday as the country's manufacturing sector bounced back to expansion in June.
The Shanghai Composite Index, the main gauge of Chinese stocks, rose 0.4% to 3,457.75. The Shenzhen Component Index edged up 0.1% to 10,476.29.
Sentiment in the local equities market improved after the Caixin/S&P Global headline seasonally adjusted manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) rose to 50.4 in June from the prior month's 48.3.
Production increased at its fastest pace since November 2024, supported by modest new order growth. However, new orders rose only marginally as exports remained soft for a third straight month.
In company news, shares of Shandong Senter Electronic jumped 286% versus its initial public offering price of 16.42 yuan on the first day of its trading on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
