25th March 2025 - (Hong Kong) The Hang Seng Index commenced trading down by 262 points, or 1.09%, settling at 23,643 points. The National Enterprises Index fell by 112 points, or 1.27%, to 8,738 points, while the Tech Index declined by 98 points, or 1.71%, to 5,638 points. Trading on the main board amounted to HK$47 billion.
Technology stocks generally experienced a downward trend, with Tencent remaining unchanged; Alibaba dropped by 1.5%; Meituan fell by 1.6%; Xiaomi Group, which is currently undergoing a discounted share placement, saw a significant decline of 5.5%; JD.com decreased by 0.6%; and Kuaishou fell by 1.5%.
Financial stocks also moved lower, with HSBC Holdings down by 0.5%; AIA Insurance dropping by 1.9%; Ping An Insurance decreasing by 0.4%; and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange falling by 0.8%.
Automobile stocks had mixed results, with BYD falling by 0.1% after reporting its results; Geely Auto dropped by 1.8%; NIO declined by 0.8%; XPeng Motors fell substantially by 4.2%; and Li Auto decreased by 3.1%.
