14th January 2025 - (Hong Kong) The Hang Seng Index opened on a positive note today, rising by 27 points, or 0.14%, to reach 18,901 points. The National Enterprises Index also saw a slight increase of 3 points, or 0.05%, settling at 6,847 points, while the Technology Index gained 6 points, or 0.14%, to stand at 4,227 points.
In the technology sector, stock movements were varied. Tencent experienced a minor decline of 0.1%, whereas Alibaba surged by 0.8%. Meituan saw a robust increase of 1%, while Xiaomi Group also fell by 0.1%. JD.com posted a modest gain of 0.5%, and Kuaishou rose slightly by 0.1%.
The financial sector exhibited mixed results. HSBC Holdings climbed by 0.2% and AIA Group rose by 0.6%. In contrast, China Ping An suffered a significant drop of 1.9%, while Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing remained unchanged.
