27th March 2025 - (Hong Kong) The Hang Seng Index opened 60 points, or 0.25%, higher at 23,543 points, while the National Enterprises Index rose by 20 points, or 0.23%, to reach 8,674 points. The Technology Index also saw an increase, gaining 15 points, or 0.27%, to 5,588 points.
In the technology sector, stocks exhibited mixed results: Tencent rose by 0.4%, Alibaba fell by 0.1%, Meituan increased by 1.4%, Xiaomi dropped by 0.1%, JD.com decreased by 0.4%, and Kuaishou gained 0.2%.
The financial sector also had a varied performance, with HSBC remaining unchanged, AIA rising by 0.7%, China Ping An stable, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing declining by 0.2%, and Bank of China falling by 0.2% after its earnings report.
In the automotive sector, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a 25% tariff on all non-American manufactured imported vehicles, leading to mixed movements among Chinese automotive stocks. BYD shares increased by 0.9%, Geely remained stable, NIO dropped by 2.7%, XPeng fell by 1.1%, while Li Auto rose by 1.2%.
