Brazil stocks higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.69%

Investing.com - Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Basic Materials and Electric Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.69% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were SLC Agricola SA ( BVMF :SLCE3), which rose 6.59% or 1.15 points to trade at 18.60 at the close. Meanwhile, CSN Mineracao SA ( BVMF :CMIN3) added 5.01% or 0.26 points to end at 5.45 and Sao Martinho SA ( BVMF :SMTO3) was up 4.92% or 1.61 points to 34.34 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sendas Distribuidora SA ( BVMF :ASAI3), which fell 3.48% or 0.36 points to trade at 9.98 at the close. Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica ( BVMF :PCAR3) declined 2.96% or 0.08 points to end at 2.62 and Vibra Energia SA ( BVMF :VBBR3) was down 2.31% or 0.47 points to 20.03.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 489 to 482 and 38 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sendas Distribuidora SA ( BVMF :ASAI3) fell to all time lows; falling 3.48% or 0.36 to 9.98.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.78% to 26.28.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.09% or 2.00 to $2,341.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.27% or 1.85 to hit $83.39 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.67% or 1.52 to trade at $225.28 .
USD/BRL was up 1.02% to 5.65, while EUR/BRL rose 3.06% to 6.07.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 105.49.
